Biography
About Joanna Purslow
I began my career in Youth Theatre and have pursued my love of acting ever since. My work includes Cordelia in King Lear, Helena in All’s Well That Ends Well, Beatrice in A View from the Bridge, Kate in She Stoops to Conquer, Judith Bliss in Hay Fever, Katherina in The Taming of the Shrew and May in Accrington Pals – all for Shropshire Drama Company.
For Love Lee Productions I played the inspirational corset designer Annemarie Lobbenberg in Silhouette. On 23rd April 2016 I was privileged to perform Shakespeare’s Will, written by Vern Thiessen, at Hamlet’s Elsinore Castle, at the invitation of the International Shakespeare 400 Conference, before giving the play its full UK premier. My other one-woman show Ursula Queen of The Jungle transferred from Edinburgh to the remote Naga communities of North East India. I can also be heard playing Katherine of Aragon on a push button at Ludlow Museum.
I joined Hotbuckle Productions in 2018 and have toured in classic adaptations of Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Tess of the D'Urbevilles, Great Expectations and Sense and Sensibility. As an integral part of the company I have also turned my hand to the production side alongside my creative input.
